The Wood Show

2013

Invasive tree privet, Ligustrum lucidum, were felled and milled from my backyard.

The Vivian Gallery, Matakana, NZ. Aug 2013.

This privet series focuses on the colonising character of the plant in NZ ecology. The scale and speed of its growth were of key interest; how it claims a place, it's as though it's in the real estate market. Wax Wood and Staffs allude to some physical characteristics of the wood that have been put to use in it's native context. Further artistic studies of the plant may continue.
